I Work In Music: NEW and Exclusive to ARL!June 3rd, 2011 | Cameron Bartlett
A blog about what it’s like to work in the Music Industry from those in the Business.
“In previous jobs, I was constantly restricted from listening to music. Now, it’s my job to listen to music! ”
My name is Cameron Bartlett and I have recently started an internship with Sony Music Entertainment in their Franklin, TN branch: Provident Music. I work in the music Publishing and Strategic Marketing department and it is amazing. Provident does a great job of making their interns feel welcomed.
“I don’t run around making copies and getting coffee.”
I feel like an actual valued member of the team. My first week here and I’ve been put in charge of projects. I’ve certainly done some grunt work, but I am trusted and my thoughts are taken into consideration. “I don’t run around making copies and getting coffee.” I do work that actually directly affects the artists I’m supporting.
Movies. Music. Learning. Did I mention Free Music?
My first day, I was given 15 cds form my boss and am encouraged to listen to it at all times while working. It is so great. “In previous jobs, I was constantly restricted from listening to music. Now, it’s my job to listen to music! ” Oh and while working on another project, my boss gave me the option to watch an unreleased movie so that we could put music to it. So COOL!
I can’t wait until next week when I tell you who I’ve met and some opportunities that have started to open up even here in my first week!
