This past evening news was given to us that Mike Welsh, former bassist of Weezer, has unfortunately passed away. The incident was sudden and unexpected, there are no specific details into what happened.  This was posted on his Facebook and Twitter.

We are deeply saddened to announce that Mikey Welsh passed away unexpectedly today. He will forever be remembered as an amazing father, artist, and friend. May he rest in peace.

Mike Welsh had suffered a mental breakdown from drug use. He left Weezer and took a break from music. After recovering he returned to music to join a band called The Kickovers.  Welsh later on retired from music to become a full time artist and continue to be a husband and father to his wife and two sons. He was an artist and had 13 exhibitions with his artwork.

Mike Welsh will always be known always as a fantastic musicians, artist, friends, husband, father, and individual.
