Band Break-Ups to start off the New Year!
January 6th, 2012 | Keith OuelletteThe metal side of music has faced a few tragedies in the past week. They say death comes in three’s, and the older we get the more we see it. Right after the New Year word was spread that The Human Abstract had broken up. Just a day or so later, Killswitch Engage lost their original singer Howard Jones. Today on January 4th it has been confirmed that popular deathcore act Oceano has split up for good as well. Could it get any worse? Now the reasons?
R.I.P
The Human Abstract had their best year in 2011 after releasing their album Digital Veil which is nothing less than a masterpiece. Earlier in the year they lost their vocalist Travis Richter. A replacement was found but they continually got quieter throughout the year until January 2nd when it was officially confirmed. Bassist Henry Salva, broke the news to the fans. Reasons in his statement paraphrased were that the band members were going down different roads. It’s a shame to see such a talented band with another big breakthrough to call it quits. We will stay updated on the members side projects though!
Killswitch Engage has lost their lead singer Howard Jones yet again. Everyone is asking why he is gone again but the band said it was too complicated and personal to put out to the public. Although Howard is gone the band is looking for a new singer. They technically are not broken up but we always like to see our original members. Howard has left some big shoes to fill yet again. With New England Metal Fest coming up in 3 months they better get started soon!
R.I.P
Last but not least, Oceano has also perished. Lead singer Adam Warren decided to part from the band. Reason, he has a son and doesn’t want to miss him grow up. Adam has a family to provide for and touring takes away from that. It is a bold but responsible move that is respected and shouldn’t offend fans. The band released today that New England Metal fest will be one of their last shows ever. Oceano does not want to find a new singer which I guess I can understand. Bands are like a family and its not easy to replace. If you are attending New England Metal Fest, Adam Warren WILL be on stage so catch them while you can when you can.
A break-up does not mean the band will never play again. You never know. One day when we are older we might see these bands with all the originals come back to play a killer show. Until that happens or if it even does, keep updated with members of the bands. A true musician will always keep writing and putting out material. Until then, sit tight and cross your fingers so no other bands break up this year.
