Band Spotlight: for King & Country

for KING & COUNTRY

altrocklive: Could you discuss some influences that have played into your band name or musical style or recent album?

Joel: While working on our debut record, we liked the ring of ‘All the Kings Men,’ but it
didn’t exactly fit. Our producer said, ‘what about for king and country?’ And that was it! I think the name for KING & COUNTRY carries with it what we hope people see in our music, who we are as people and what we stand for.

We released our debut record earlier this year and have been honored by the way people have embraced it. We really try to bring who we are into the music and I hope people can see it as something that is authentic and a little different from else is out there. Recently we just re-wrapped writing and recording a 1st ever [original] Christmas tune! Luke and I usually have to wrestle pretty intensely with writing, it can take days! But this tune literally fell in our laps in 3 hours. We’re so stoked about it that we’ve begun playing it live. Christmas in September!

altrocklive: What do you enjoy most about being a band?

Luke: I enjoy the impact that you can make when you write a song that speaks to people’s hearts. The amount of people that share their story about how one song or another has changed them is really the reason why we do music. Also, I enjoy being a part of a team. Mydream was to play sports and I never realized that the real desire I had was to be a part of a team. I got my wish!

altrocklive: What can we expect from your performance in Kansas City this week, with Illuminate Concerts?

Luke: You can expect passion, an exciting performance with authentic music and a powerful message. Now that being said, we can’t tell you everything that you should expect because we have to leave a few tricks up our sleeves! We’re certainly excited about this tour and cant wait to see you there!
