Concert Reviews Anberlin, Civil Twilight, States, and Keep Me Conscious

Score: 10/10

About two years ago, I went to see one of my first concerts in Providence and it was Anberlin. I hadn’t really known them for very long but knew the concert was cheap and that It would be a good time. Since then, I’ve seen them three times they have become one of my all time favorite bands. Although I’ve seen them four times, each time has been completely different in a good way. There’s always a new opener or even some new material. This particular time was by far the best of them all.

When we arrived to the show it was fairly packed, or so I thought. Not too long after arriving the first band went on to play. Their name was “Keep Me Conscious”. Much to my surprise, they put on an amazing set and was very enjoyable to listen to. A band called “States” was up next. They did an alright job playing but didn’t seem to do much crowd interaction whereas “Keep Me Conscious” kept the crowd pumped. After they finished playing, “Civil Twilight” came out for their set. I enjoyed some of their songs but it wasn’t really my style. Finally after a long wait, Anberlin came out on stage. The second they came out on stage, I knew it was going to be an awesome night.

Anberlin opened up with songs like “Paperthin Hymn” and “Disappear”. At this point when I looked around the room, the entire place was packed. The Paradise Rock Club has a large balcony that wraps around the venue and people lined it from end to end. Luckily I was able to get up close because of my photo pass. Shortly after taking photos, I moved down into the pit to watch the show. Everyone was going crazy to every song and really getting into it. Anberlin continued to play awesome songs such as “Dismantle Repair”, “Godspeed”, and “Impossible”. Each and every song sounded amazing. They play all their songs with such passion and emotion that it draws you in. Each member plays their heart out to every single song and truly cares for their fans.

Sadly, the show was coming to an end sooner than any of us wanted. Anberlin finished off the night with “Feel Good Drag”. During that song the whole crowd was screaming their lungs out and jumping up and down as high as they could. I believe that everyone there had an awesome night as did I. Anberlin put on an amazing show and is one of my favorite bands of all time. I’m very happy and privileged that I was able to see them again that night. If you haven’t ever seen or heard of Anberlin then you’re truly missing out on a great band. Make sure if they come by your area that you go see them!
