Our team missed the opening bands, but it probably wasn’t a big deal. Paramore put on a great show. They started off their set with “Misery Business” and played about 9 or 10 songs including “When It Rains” and a song or two off of their new album. Their performance was flawless and they had great energy, but it seems like they could’ve been a little bit more excited and crowd-friendly. The drummer seemed like he was aggravated and when the show was over just walked away as fast as he could without throwing his sticks or waving or anything. After that was No Doubt. They put up a big cloth and projected their shadows onto it as an entrance. Gwen was in awesome shape, and she wasn’t afraid to show it. The stage setup was really cool, it seemed very futuristic. Gwen Stefani and all the other members of the band changed their outfits frequently and were always energetic and putting on a good show. They had great crowd interaction and brought a crowd member on stage to show off her No Doubt tattoos. They played almost every song you can imagine from “Just a Girl” to “Don’t Speak” to “Sunday Morning”, but did not play any of Gwen’s solo work. They kept the arena alive late into the night, and thankfully it did not rain much.
Things that kept this from getting a 10 included: Paramore’s mood could’ve been slightly better especially with the drummer, and the weather wasn’t so great. This was probably the closest to a ten we’ve had so far, though.
